It’s as simple as setting up a smart speaker because each Nest wifi Point serves as a smart speaker and extends the range of the Nest wifi Router. You plug it in, follow the instructions on the app, and 10 minutes later, your new mesh network is up and running, spreading a reasonably fast wifi signal throughout your home.
With the presence of Google Assistant and everything is controlled via the Google Home app, the Nest wifi invites you to plant a foot in Google’s smart-home garden if you haven’t already. And it was not cheap. The third-generation, three-piece mesh system from Amazon-owned Eero costs $249, which is $20 less than a Nest wifi setup with only two devices. Best Buy, on the other hand, charges $229 for a three-piece Netgear Orbi AC1200 mesh system. This is more than $100 less than the three-piece Nest wifi.
Google is currently working to consolidate all of its smart home offerings under the Nest brand. As a result, what was once Google wifi is now Google Nest wifi. Google celebrated the occasion with a new design, faster top speeds, and the inclusion of Google Assistant voice controls in each Nest wifi Point.
Aside from the Nest branding, you’ll control everything through the Google Home app, which requires a Google account. The app is clean and straightforward and does an excellent job of guiding you through a simple setup process. Simply plug everything in, tell the app to connect to the router, and then use your phone’s camera to scan a QR code on the bottom of each Point. Google nest wifi router set up
To begin, you will require a Google Nest wifi router.

How do you configure your Google Nest wifi router?

- Install the Google Home app on your Android or iOS device.
- Create a home if this is your first time using the Google Home app.
- Determine the location of your router.
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the WAN port on your Nest wifi router. The other end should be connected to your modem. The Ethernet cable will be run from the nbnTM connection device for FTTP/FTTC/HFC/Fixed Wireless. The Ethernet cable will be run from the modem for FTTN/B.
- Connect your Google Nest wifi router to a power outlet. The light will pulse white after about a minute to indicate that it is turned on and ready for setup.
- Launch the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.
- Select Add > Device Setup > New Device.
- Select a residence.
- Locate and select your Google Nest wifi router.
- Scan the QR code on the device’s bottom.
Place your phone about 5 inches (12 cm) away to scan. Learn more about scanning QR codes. If you can’t scan the QR code, tap Continue without scanning and then enter the setup key at the bottom of your device.
- Choose or create a room for your router.
- Name and secure password for your wifi network.
- The router will now set up your wireless network. This could take some time.
- To add another wifi device, tap Yes in the app to proceed, or follow the steps below to add a point later.
WAN configuration
To make changes to your WAN settings, Google Nest wifi or Google wifi must be turned off, and your mobile phone must be connected to your Google Nest wifi or Google wifi network. Disconnect your router’s or primary wifi point’s Ethernet cable and wait until the light pulses yellow (Google Nest wifi) or orange (Google wifi). Check that your mobile device is still connected to the Nest or Google wifi network.
- Launch Google Home.
- Select wifi> Settings > Advanced Networking from the menu.
- Select PPPoE from the WAN menu.
- Enter the username and password that were emailed to you after completing your order. To save the changes, click the Save button.
Wait 3-5 minutes for the modem to connect before testing the service. If necessary, restart the modem.
